Letter from our Group President

I have been a member of a business-networking group for over ten years.  I’m sure if you’re considering joining a BNI group, the first thing you want to know is: “Does it work?”  The answer is, yes, of course it works, or it wouldn’t be a hugely successful business around the world.

I assume the next question is, “How do I get the most out of it?”  And the answer may surprise you a bit.  BNI is a great networking group and some people make it their only method of marketing.  However, to really maximize your referral success, we recommend you use this as one leg of at least a two-legged approach.  BNI is best used as a place where you can invite prospects to meet with you, to get a feel for who you are and what you do:  And what better place to get a warm welcome than a place of friends who already accept and love you for who you are.  When you bring prospective customers or clients into a BNI meeting, you already know they will be received with a warm welcome from friendly people, who will speak highly of you and who will not embarrass you.  If you get this simple idea, then BNI can produce true marketing success for you.

Many people join the Chambers of Commerce, the Rotary, Kiwanis Club, and a variety of other forums in which to meet hundreds of potential customers.  One meeting does not a customer or client make.  To be successful, sales professionals tell us, you need at least three if not four or five contacts before a person will trust you enough to work with you.  This is why it is so critical to have a forum where you can bring a potential client and meet with them in a professional atmosphere and build a relationship with them.  There is no better place than BNI.

Landmark BNI’s focus is to help our group grow through referrals to other businesses.  We try to make it a business-to-business (B2B) networking group.  Most of our members deal with the public.  However, a real estate agent who gets a referral to a builder who will list him on all of his buildings in a subdivision is worth much more than a referral to an individual selling their home.  So we try to find business opportunities for all of our members.  But don’t worry, we will still send our members referrals to individuals as well.

To me, after 10 + years in a networking group, I have learned that the most valued part of being a member is the relationships I build with other small business owners.  Many times I have had a question for an attorney, and I know on Thursday morning I will be seeing an attorney friend of mine.  Many days I have a tax question or estate-planning question that needs to be resolved, and I know members of BNI will be there for me.

Perhaps the most impressive by product of being a member is listening to the presentations members make each week.  I have learned everything from which vitamins to take, to how to arm my wife and daughter so they can protect themselves when they are walking alone in a parking lot at night, to several easy ways to eliminate PMI insurance on new home ownership and to ways to get the most out of my home when I sell it.

It sounds silly, but BNI is more than a group of business owners, it is a group of business owners I am willing to send my clients to and know my clients are in good hands and that their best interests will be represented in a truly professional way.  That is what BNI really means to me.

I hope you can come be a part of us.  We’d love to have you!

Sincerely,

Chris Morris

This BNI group has made a 20% difference in my business over the last two years through direct referrals!  There are also indirect referrals that have come from networking with this group that have added significantly to my business.  I REALLY hate to get up in the morning to go to meetings, but I am ALWAYS glad that I come to this group on Thursday mornings.  If you are serious about your business, you need to join us here!

One of the founding principles of BNI is that "givers gain". This is evident in our Landmark Chapter of BNI. We are a group of professionals dedicated to expanding our businesses through helping each others’ businesses grow. I have received numerous referrals directly from the group, and those clients have generated additional referrals. If you’re serious about growing your business, don’t delay joining our group while we still have openings!

The Thursday morning meeting of the Landmark Chapter of BNI is a great way to start the day.  We are a positive group of individuals who work as a team to help grow each others business.  I believe that the members get as much joy in passing a good referral as getting one.  The increased circle of influence that BNI encourages results in business that might never be achieved.  The increase in business I received from BNI in 2006 helped my wife and I win an Allstate trip to Arizona and Hawaii.  We are a great group and will continue to grow and prosper.

I've been a member of the group for over 3 years.  I not only have gotten many referrals that have turned into some big commissions, I also have gotten a platform to practice public speaking.  I used to be scared to death to talk in front of more than a few people. Now I really get a kick out of it. The connections that I have made here are priceless!

BNI has helped me to grow my business tremendously over the past two years.  The referrals I get are as close to closed business as they could be.  I never have to make a cold call.  BNI is wonderful!

I have been a member of the Landmark Chapter of BNI for over a year now and I have greatly increased my business through referrals received at this weekly meeting.  The group is very professional, and very respectful of the other members in the group.  This group works really well with my business plan (real estate appraising) as the members' main focus is business to business referrals.  I also like the group’s meeting time (7:00AM), as it doesn’t consume my day – time is money!!

I have found all the members of the group to be professionals knowledgeable in their fields. In addition to providing a portfolio of contacts I can reference with confidence, I have learned something from everyone in the group
